In Bereshit, in the beginning; the universe is created out of nothingness in six days. On the seventh day God rests. Adam and Eve are enticed by the serpent to eat from the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and are banished from the Garden of Eden.
Cain and Abel are born to Adam and Eve. Their stories are told: Abel's offering to God is accepted, Cain's is rejected. Cain kills Abel and is condemned to wander the earth. Adam and Eve's descendants are traced until the time of Noah when mankind has become evil and God decides to blot out Mankind in a great flood.
