This striking tallit primarily in reds and blues on a background of a beautiful, soft cream-colored wool blend, combines the technique of silk painting on the neckband and corners, and applique in the Jerusalem design on the bands.
The applique technique involves cutting out shapes (of silk, in this case) and sewing them onto a background. It is a time consuming task but well worth the effort, involving much creativity as the design is created in progress, and is the only one of its kind.
The neckband, adorned with the traditional blessing lettered in gold, radiates light.
To complete the set is a kippah and tallit bag, also in the applique technique, which is an expansion on the design of the tallit, with setting sun reflecting its golden light on ancient Jerusalem below.
The tzitziot are of handspun wool.
